Il Campitello is the vineyard Monteraponi saves for its Riserva, and the one that has made this small Radda estate a name to whisper among Chianti lovers. One bottle, opened properly, makes the case better than we can.
Michele Braganti farms Monteraponi organically in Radda in Chianti, one of the coolest, highest corners of Chianti Classico. Il Campitello is the estate's oldest vineyard, about 420 metres up on stony schist and ringed by woodland. Mostly Sangiovese with a little Canaiolo and Colorino, it ferments with its own yeasts in concrete, rests on the skins for around 45 days, then spends two years in large old oak and is bottled without fining or filtration.
2020 was a warm year, and here it shows as depth rather than weight: dark fruit, lavender, spice and sage, held together by firm, fine tannins. Antonio Galloni of Vinous called it “one of the very finest wines I have tasted at Monteraponi.”
Open it an hour or two ahead and serve at 18°C in a large glass. Our pick: bistecca or a slow-roasted shoulder of lamb with rosemary.

About Deliciously Fine Foods
About Deliciously Fine Foods
Italian food, from inside London's market
Since 2016 we've supplied London's restaurants and food shops from New Covent Garden Market, where the city's kitchens buy their food while most of us are still asleep. Deliciously Fine Foods opens the same larder to yours, in three ways.
We bring it to you
We import charcuterie, cheese, preserves, olive oil, pasta and truffles from artisan family producers in Italy, including Subissati, curing salumi in the hills of Roccastrada, and Maremma in Barattolo on the Tuscan coast. We know every one of them personally. Our founder, Luigi, sits in on their planning meetings when new products are developed, so we know how things are made long before they reach the shelf.
We cook for you
In 2025 we opened our own kitchen at the market to cook with what we import: slow sauces, soups, trays to reheat at home. Some dishes are made to order, so they reach you fresh rather than after a week in a fridge.
We come to you
Our chefs can bring our produce and our skills into your home, for a dinner you actually get to sit down at. Meet our chefs →
How it reaches you
In Central London we deliver ourselves, by electric cargo bike, which overtakes the traffic more often than you'd think. The rest of the UK mainland goes by courier, and our wines come from our cellar in Fulham. No minimum order.
